Del Rey Kitchen Addition (MPR Renovation)
Originally built in 1959, the Kitchen/MPR facility at the Del Rey Elementary School had served the community well. After a thorough assessment by the District’s Team, it was found to be more cost effective to demolish the existing kitchen (and rebuild) rather than attempt an extensive renovation and addition. The new facility includes a full-service commercial kitchen, speed line, dish washer, walk-in freezer, and dry storage. In addition, new ADA compliant restrooms, office, and staff lounge were provided.
About Project
Conversely, the District found the existing MPR facility to be adequate and determined it would undergo an extensive renovation. Improvements include: all new interior finishes, upgraded utility infrastructure, new energy efficient HVAC system (with T-24 enhancements), single-ply roof replacement, required ADA upgrades (access ramp and platform lift), and complete stage renovation.
The project also included removal and replacement of the existing parking area, ADA site improvements, and security lighting.
